The Laser Perimeter Awareness System (LPAS) is intended to assist physical security forces tasked with critical asset protection.
Critical assets can be defined as military installations and personnel, petrochemical plants, nuclear facilities, seaports and other facilities of high visibility and economic value.
Recent events have altered the strategies and technologies deployed for critical asset and anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP). Having initially prioritized security force expansion, attention is shifting to defense-in-depth security technologies which autonomously detect and track the movements of intruders before they reach secure areas. Using a confluence of new techniques and technologies, including LPAS wide-area intruder detection systems, today’s security forces are meeting the challenge.
The Laser Perimeter Awareness System continues Goodrich’s leadership in the area of laser-based sensing technology. LPAS offers:
- Versatility - operates equally well over land or water
- Automation - detects, alarms and simultaneously tracks one or more targets without human interaction
- Reliability – high probability of detection, low false alarm rate
- Compatibility - does not interfere with other sensors or processes, negligible RF emissions, easy integration
LPAS is available in two primary models; an integrator-ready unit that is ideally configured for fusion by a third-party contractor into a larger security network, and a customer-ready unit that includes various factory options and enhancements.
